Psalm 19:7
The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

This morning, I read aloud this verse as well as the rest of Psalm 19. I lay on the bed, Scott sat at my desk. He observed that God's glory is revealed and communicated in the vastness of creation as well as the law's ability to reveal the minutia of hidden sins. Yes, the law! It is indeed perfect, restoring the soul! But how? Galatians tells us that its purpose is to reveal to us those hidden sins in such a way as to lead us unto Christ. For although the law, if followed perfectly, does restore the soul, there is no way that sinful man would ever follow such a law perfectly. Why the law, then? Paul answers this query by telling us that our salvation comes through faith in Christ, the promised one, the one who has indeed followed the perfect law perfectly. Therefore, having showed us the unrighteous result of our sinful hearts striving to obey a perfect law that demands righteousness, we are lead to Christ, who restores our souls by grace through faith, not through our works of obedience to the law...for such work on our part is impossible.
